News and Events:

Announcement: February 2006 Symposium

This year's Call to Action symposium will be held on February 27. The all-day program is designed for teams from participating schools. The theme is "Putting a face to Poverty." J. F. Rischard, author of High Noon: 20 Global Problems/20 Years to Solve Them will give the keynote address. By the end of the day, each participant team will design a plan of action for their own school. To learn more about our plans, please read the introduction to the symposium.

Schools in the greater Washington area are invited to attend the symposium. Space is limited, so please plan ahead. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Hugh Riddleberger.

CIE will prepare briefing materials for participating schools. As part of that process, teams of students will be selected from schools across the region to contribute to the design of the event.

World AIDS Day

Students and teachers from Banneker, SEED, Washington International School, Dunbar, Potomac, and Bishop O'Connel high schools attended a Save the Children reception
at the US capitol in early December, meeting with speakers including Miss Universe, Natalie Glebova, an advocate for AIDS awareness and education around the world.
